111 North Pearl
Devised to reverse the decline of downtown, the 1973 Park Mart Renewal Project combined a unique spiral ramp with a parking garage built atop the Grand Cash Market grocery store. The spiral not only efficiently directed traffic, its shape and striking red guard rails also symbolized movement, celebrating the car and the new adjacent I-787 highway.
Abstract tile mosaics generously adorn the interior first-story, home to the Capital Repertory Theatre since 1981.
Now home to the Capital Repertory Theater, Redburn will refurbish the parking garage and the entire facade of the structure, including the iconic spiral.
